An accountant is a person whose job it is to keep or inspect financial accounts.
When you think of an accountant, you may picture a grey two-piece suit, shirt and tie. Someone who speaks in jargon and emails you every now and then from a firm with a double-barrelled name. They will submit your books for you, check your taxes, prepare you VAT return and maybe even manage your payroll. Your contact with them may be limited to once a year when the time comes around for submitting your end of year accounts, which will most likely involve a phone call or letter asking you to send them everything they need.
Whilst we do deliver the usual required accountancy services to keep our clients compliant, we couldn’t be further from this stereotype in terms of our approach.
Accountancy to keep you and your business compliant
Our first purpose is, of course, to ensure that your business is and remains compliant. We do this by making sure your financials are up to scratch and reported correctly, relieving you of some of the pressures of running your business so that you can sit back and relax at the weekend, instead of fretting over your tax return or having to file your Confirmation Statement.
But, we can do so much more beyond this.
We're more than just number crunchers
We don’t believe that accountants should just be human calculators. Yes, being good with numbers is somewhat essential, but that doesn’t mean we should limit ourselves to crunching the numbers and ticking boxes to ensure compliance. Sure, we can do your tax returns, payroll, VAT and much more but, for us, where we come into our own is in our ability to think creatively to identify areas where we can help your business to grow. This is where the fun lies in accountancy.
Many accountancy firms employ a mix of accountants and those who just specialise in certain aspects, such as bookkeeping or payroll. We only employ qualified accountants, so they have the knowledge and skills required to advise you on all financial aspects. Our team also takes an active interest in your business and the industry it operates in.
This combined experience and knowledge means that we can proactively offer you financial as well as strategic business advice at keys times of your business’ growth. Whether you are wondering if it’s a good time to bring on a new employee, or whether you should start trading in a new country, we can use your company’s financial information to support you in your decision-making.
Chris Fox at Fox Estate Agents Ltd has doubled his company’s turnover since joining Blue Rocket, he says:
“Having good knowledge of your company’s figures is very important. I use the accounting information I receive in business planning and to make decisions about things like purchasing and staffing.”
Providing proactive advice
You don’t need to worry about asking the right questions at the right times either. We won’t just provide you with the information and advice you request, we’ll also keep an eye on things and present you with our own ideas.
Abounding Ltd was at the next stage of growth when Peter Abrahams, Managing Director, came to us looking for an accountant who could support him during his ambitious growth plans, he said:
“Blue Rocket suggested I changed the way I was getting paid as a director. This saved me over £10,000 which I was then able to put back into the business.”
Ask yourself what you would do if you were able to fee up £10,000.
As well as freeing up money, we can also save you time, allowing you to get on with other business critical functions.
“Blue Rocket stand out from other accountants, and not just because their brand has a personality. Having them support me by keeping my accounts in check means that I am freed-up to focus on what I am good at, allowing me to grow my business.” – Kevin Bowden, Bowden Digitec Ltd
Pick up the phone, without the worry of escalating fees
Some accountants charge clients every time they pick up the phone. We’re not clock-watchers and our fees are fixed, so you can call us as many times as you need without racking up extra fees. We’re happy to answer all of your questions, whether it’s about bookkeeping, PAYE or to be a sounding board for you when making an important business decision. And we promise to avoid using confusing jargon!
“The team at Blue Rocket has been absolutely excellent. They are always patient and get back to me quickly. I make use of their support often and ask a lot of questions, which they answer in a way that makes things very clear.” – Julie Sheppey, JLS Fire Protection Ltd
This kind of support is invaluable whether you are just starting out, or you’re looking to build your business empire.
We understand that accounting may not seem like the most exciting part of your business, but it is certainly one of the most important ones and can make a huge difference to your future success. We hope that our approach to accounting will change not just your perceptions of accountants, but also alter the way you think about using financial information to support your decision-making, helping you to achieve your businesses goals.
